Do superloads require advance notice? If so, how much? Back to list
Because superloads exceed the dimensions and weights normally issued on routine permits, they involve advance application and physical route inspection, and it can take several days to a week for the process to be completed. In some cases, it may take a little longer depending on travel distance and possible utility company involvement.
While the dimensions of a superload and the time to process the permit application may vary from state to state, it is always advisable to plan ahead. Even while your cargo is still in the manufacturing stage, it's not too soon to address the transportation phase of your project.
